Gov. Culver directs I-JOBS transportation funds

DES MOINES (KWWL)-- Governor Chet Culver delivered a major announcement Thursday morning in Des Moines concerning his I-JOBS initiative, deciding where $95 million in funds will be directed across the state for transportation projects.

Every city and county will receive a portion of $45 million for local road projects.
The remaining $50 million will help improve bridges in 29 counties.

Governor Chet Culver said, "I feel good about the fairness in terms of how this money is going to be distributed. Whether it's an urban area like Des Moines or a small town in Northeast Iowa like McGregor in Clayton County. Every part of our state and the people of our state will benefit directly."

Waterloo mayor Tim Hurley said, "This period of relief that it gives us.. we're going to be concentrating on turning this economy around and then things will take care of themselves."
