Eastern Iowa in new wine region

WATERLOO (KWWL) - A federal ruling that goes into effect July 22nd creates the largest wine region in the United States.
The Upper Mississippi River Valley includes parts of Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

It's nearly 40 times the size of the Napa Valley wine region, and it could be huge for Iowa tourism and the wine industry.

The Napa Valley region is about 759 square miles. The Mississippi Valley Region is 30,000 square miles, 30 times the size of Napa Valley.
