Storm in Marion in 1860


MARION (KWWL) -- Severe weather hit Marion July 20, 1860, killing three school children.  According to articles posted to, the storm hit around 8:30 p.m. bringing heavy rain and severe lightning.

Lightning hit a school house, containing eight people.  Three of the children died.
