Farming with antiques at Pioneer Days

CENTRAL CITY (KWWL) -- The Central City Historical Society showed off how to use its antiques at its annual Pioneer Days.

Today, wheat is harvested in the field, but at the turn of the century, the crop was brought to the harvester.

"They pick up the bundles of wheat that have been cut 2 weeks ago and set out to dry.  Then they load up those wagons and bring them into the threshing machine and the steam engine powers the threshing machine.  The bundles are then pitched into the machine and the grain comes in one spout and the straws are separated and blows out the other spout," said Steam Engineer Joe Mcevoy.

People watched the process of binding, threshing and plowing.
