DNR says school employees dumped chemicals into creek

Posted:

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- A polluted creek running through Cedar Rapids' Noelridge Park was drained because of improper waste disposal.

Sunday afternoon, The Iowa Department of Natural Resources said employees from nearby Harding Middle School were responsible for dumping the products in the water.

The water turned white from a substance that was dumped into a nearby sewage drain.

The creek was isolated enough that the pollution never reached the city's water supply.
