CALIFORNIA (KWWL) -- An Iowa game inventor sold a card game to a California conglomerate on July 17, 1983.  That's according to the Gazette news archives.

Jim Seko invented Snafooey at age 31.  He was originally a cosmetics salesman who would have people play his games, eventually drawing investment interest.

A marketing campaign helped spread the game worldwide.
