TURNBERRY, SCOTLAND (KWWL) - Zach Johnson fired a second round 1-over 71 at the British Open Friday.  The Cedar Rapids native is +1 for the tournament.

Johnson struggled with three bogies in a five hole stretch on the front nine, but rallied with a pair of birdies on the back to finish at 1-over.

With an increasing wind making for tougher playing conditions on the Scotland course, Johnson is all but guaranteed to be around for the weekend.

Johnson is coming off his best ever finish at the John Deere Classic, tying for second last weekend at the tournament in Silvis, Illinois.  He is currently in 4th in the FedEx Cup standings behind Tiger Woods, Steve Stricker and Kenny Perry.
