Expanding Pinicon Ridge Park


LINN COUNTY (KWWL) - Linn County Conservation Receives a Grant to Expand Pinicon Ridge County Park.

Linn County Conservation says it waill acquire a 40-acre addition to Pinicon Ridge Park near Central City. The acquisition was funded by a $96,000 Resource Enhancement and Protection (REAP) grant. The 40 acres is of mature upland timber. 

The Conservation Board says it's wanted this piece of land for years. We're told the owners passed away and the siblings decided they wanted the land to become part of the park.

The land is expected to remain in its natural condition for wildlife habitat and quiet enjoyment by people. The property is on the northwest corner of the park near the group camp area. Access is from the park trail system.

Pinicon Ridge County Park is 965 acres along the Wapsipinicon River near Central City. Activities include picnicking, camping, cabins, lodges, shelters, hiking, bird watching, watercraft rentals, and canoe trips. For more information, check out www.LinnCountyParks.com.
