7 killed in Afghanistan helicopter crash

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN (AP) -- NATO says it's investigating the cause of a helicopter crash in southern Afghanistan.

Six civilians on board and an Afghan child on the ground were killed in the crash. The helicopter was on contract to the coalition forces, and its owner says the aircraft was shot down.

Meanwhile, the U.S. military says two Marines were killed in a "hostile incident." Some 4,000 Marines are pushing through Helmand province in an effort to push the Taliban out, but the military is not yet providing any other details on these latest casualties. The deaths bring the number of U.S. troops killed in Afghanistan so far this year to 107.

The Italian Defense Ministry says a roadside bomb has killed on of its soldiers and wounded three others in western Afghanistan.
