Trees, building and crop damage in Fayette County

FAYETTE COUNTY (KWWL) - Fayette County was struck by severe thunderstorms that had high winds, heavy rain and lighting Friday around 3:30 am.

The west central part of the county was hit the hardest by the strong winds. The Sheriff's Office took more than two-dozen calls of trees down and power lines and building damaged. One report was a un occupied mobile home thrown across the roadway and several barns and building with roofs blown away. Several home sustained severe damage, thankfully no injuries were reported. Thousands of acres of crops were flattened by the winds, and it is unknown on how many thousands or more dollars of damage to crops alone. The county is still attempting to clear the roadways of debris and the power company crews are attempting to get power back to the residents of Fayette County.
