Becker enters not guilty plea, asks for speedy trial

BUTLER COUNTY (KWWL) -- The man accused of killing Aplington-Parkersburg football coach Ed Thomas, entered a written plea of not guilty.

Becker pleaded not guilty to charges of First Degree murder in the death of Ed Thomas and charges related to a high speed chase that started in Cedar Falls.

Becker also asked for a speedy trial in the murder charges, meaning the trial would take place in the next 90 days.

Becker, an A-P graduate and former football player, is accused of shooting Thomas in the high school weight room on June 24.

Becker is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $1 million bond.
