DES MOINES (AP)--The Iowa Lottery says it won't use Shawn Johnson to pitch lottery tickets anytime soon. That's because the West Des Moines native is too young gamble.
Lottery Chief Executive Terry Rich says despite the popularity of the Olympic gold-medalist and "Dancing with the Stars" winner, Johnson is only 17 and she won't appear in television or radio ads for the lottery.
The lottery is for 21 and over. Rich says he wouldn't want to give the impression to minors that it's OK to buy lottery tickets.
Johnson has appeared in ads for the Hy-Vee grocery store chain, Ortega, McDonald's and other businesses
