Iowa man pleads guilty to gun charges

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) -- A Cedar Rapids man on probation for drug charges has pleaded guilty to federal gun charges after his probation officer spotted him on the social networking site MySpace holding guns.

Twenty-nine-year-old Gamaliet Figueroa pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids to being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Figueroa was on probation for distributing heroin when his probation officer saw pictures of him with a rifle and handgun on MySpace in April 2007.

Officers searched his home and found a semi-automatic rifle loaded with 23 rounds of ammunition.

A date for sentencing hasn't been set.

Figueroa faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. He entered his plea last week.
