Rain doesn't stop Independence parade

INDEPENDENCE (KWWL) -- When the fame of America is your town's name, the rain doesn't stop the 4th of July celebrations.

The people of Independence brought their umbrellas and lined the streets to watch fire trucks, bands, and Uncle Sam on a bike.

The town of independence has had this Independence Day tradition every year since 1860.

Many brought along their umbrellas and didn't mind getting wet. "Soldiers fight in the rain for our country and we're showing our patriotism.  We're blessed we're getting a little bit of rain on the 4th of July," said Richard Williams.

The celebration continued after the parade with sand volleyball, food and fireworks.
