Waterloo Police investigate home invasion

Waterloo Police are looking for clues in a home invasion at an apartment complex.

Just before 5 p.m. Thursday, officers were called to the Hawkeye Towers Apartments across from Hawkeye Community College.

Police say two black men, dressed in dark clothing forced their way into the apartment.

Police say the two were carrying guns, hit the two people inside the apartment, then took some money and property from the apartment and left.

Officers were at the scene for several hours looking for evidence and talking with possible witnesses.

Many students live in the complex and the neighboring Hawkeye Village Apartments.

Because school is out right now, there are fewer people living there.

Officers were at both complexes.

Police say the two residents were taken to local hospitals for non-life threatening injuries.

Neighbors say it's normally a pretty quiet complex.

We saw several residents moving furniture in and out.

Many didn't know anything had even happened.

Police say there are no suspects but detectives continue to investigate the incident.
