IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

New details in a plane crash last June that killed a 2 year old girl.

The National Transportation Safety Board says the child was not properly restrained. The NTSB report released Wednesday said the child was being held by her mother, but was otherwise unrestrained.

The agency said Sydney Blanton of Georgia, died of blunt head trauma. Her mother and the pilot wore seat belts and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The single-engine plane crashed after takeoff from the Iowa City Municipal Airport. It was operated by Angel Flight center, which arranged the flight for sydney to be treated for a clubfoot at the UI Hospital.
