Park Policies for Dubuque's July 3rd fireworks display

DUBUQUE, Iowa  -  In an effort to maximize space and allow as may people as possible to enjoy the July 3rd fireworks display on Dubuque's riverfront, the City of Dubuque's Leisure Services Department is reminding residents of  special policies at A.Y. McDonald and Miller-Riverview Parks for Friday, July 3.

To create more space for additional spectators at A.Y. McDonald Park, motor homes and campers will be prohibited in the park for the July 3rd fireworks.  Additionally, only shade canopies of 10 feet by 10 feet or smaller will be allowed in the park's grass areas.  Cars must be parked legally and patrons will be allowed to park passenger vehicles in the "overflow" boat-trailer parking area in the center of the park, but not the main boat trailer parking area near the boat ramp.  Cars may double-up in the larger parking spaces. Overnight parking is discouraged.  Alcohol is prohibited in City parks, except for beer in cans and wine coolers.

At Miller-Riverview Park, only registered campers may bring vehicles into the park on July 3rd.   However, pedestrians are allowed.  Parking for non-campers is available at the McAleece Sports Complex.
