Guard members recognized

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Members of the Iowa National Guard were honored Thursday for their service during the flood of 2008.

Mount Mercy college in Cedar Rapids hosted a reception to recognize the 185th Air Refueling Wing Unit.  A year ago Mount Mercy housed the unit along as well as hundreds of other Air and Army National Guard members

Thursday's event gave people in the community a chance to say thank you for the units' work during the difficult times.

"We really were anticipating this opportunity to be with people and to thank them for the outpouring of warmth that they gave to us," Lt. Col. Neil Stockfleth said.  "The support they showed us."

The 185th Air Refueling Wing of the Iowa Air National Guard consists of 900 members and is stationed out of Sioux City.
