Falcons rise again

PARKERSBURG (KWWL) - Thousands gathered at the Sacred Acre in Parkersburg to remember Coach Ed Thomas, murdered early Wednesday morning by a former AP player.

Local churches offered words of encouragement. The first reading was about being one body, and many talked about how Parkersburg, in one body, is coming together to honor its coach.

Almost 20 years since he played for AP, former player Rick Alderman has goosebumps again. He and other former players will never forget the life lessons they learned on the field.

As the town mourns, the Denver football team showed up to pay their respects. As news of Coach Thomas' death sinks in, a town that has gone through so much, is becoming tighter.

Many at the vigil spoke about how Coach Thomas is watching over the community and that he wants them to keep moving forward, spread the light that he spread around the town, and maybe work on winning a state title.

It was a very somber day for Parkersburg but many are positive, remembering a coach they'll never forget.
