UPDATE: Two drive-by shootings are unrelated


WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Police believe two shootings that happened only hours apart are unrelated.

Around 8:45 p.m. on Sunday, during severe weather conditions in Waterloo, police responded to reports of a drive-by shooting at 525 Elm Street.

Police say someone fired shots from a vehicle at the house.

One person suffered a gunshot wound to the hand. Two other people were injured by debris from the gunshots. All three were taken to the hospital for treatment. None of the injuries were life-threatening.

Around 1 a.m. on Monday, someone fired a gun from a car and hit 16-year-old Marhia Martin. Martin was walking with a group of people near downtown Waterloo. She was taken to a hospital where she was treated and released.

At this point police are continuing to investigate and have not made any arrests.
