Ferentz, Kaeding Hosting Benefit in Iowa City

IOWA CITY (KWWL)- Iowa Football Coach Kirk Ferentz and former Hawkeye Nate Kaeding announced Wednesday they are hosting an event that will bring in one of the most influential sports educators in the country.

Former college All-American and NFL star Joe Ehrmann will be coming to the Englert Theater in Iowa City to give his motivational speech titled "Building Men and Women for Others."

Ehrmann was the subject of the New York Times best seller "Season of Life," and he was recognized by Parade Magazine as "the most important coach in America."

Ehrmann was also hired to deliver his speech to several NFL teams, including Kaeding's San Diego Chargers.

Both Ferentz and Kaeding say he's not just your average motivational speaker.

"It was an incredible speech. As good as I've ever seen. He has a very meaningful, poignant life message and he has also a very meaningful message to all the educators out there.  We're just glad it was able to come together," said Kaeding.

"I think Joe's message certainly transcends sports. It's very pertinent for sports, male and female. But I think his message will be powerful to parents, educators, basically anyone that's interested in our community," said Ferentz.

The event is scheduled for Thursday June 25 at 7 pm.  Tickets are available at the Englert box office.

All proceeds will benefit the University of Iowa Children's Hospital.
