Man believes he's Iowa couple's missing son

NEWTON (KWWL) -- The mystery over the disappearance of an Iowa couple's son more than 50 years ago has resurfaced.

The 2-year-old son of Jerry and Marilyn Damman, originally from Newton, disappeared from outside a Long Island, New York bakery in 1955.  No trace of the boy, Stephen Damman, was ever found.

On Tuesday, the New York Daily News, said John Robert Barnes of Kalkaska, Michigan contacted them, believing he is the missing Stephen Damman.

He says he came across pictures of the Damman family while doing some online research, and thought they seemed familiar.

He's now waiting for results of DNA tests conducted as part of an FBI investigation.
