130 killed in 1882 tornado

GRINNELL (KWWL) -- A tornado killed 130 people in Iowa on June 17, 1882.  It seemed to be a spring of severe weather, because a day earlier in Dubuque, massive hail was been reported.

The twister hit Grinnell, taking out two college buildings and numerous residences.  Three freight trains were knocked off their tracks.  Malcolm and Kellogg were also hit.
