CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - Cedar Rapids Police arrest a man who they say has been stealing copper tubing from homes.

The Cedar Rapids Police Department received a phone call Monday from neighbors of 1034 8 St NW, that someone had been entering this residence and was stealing items. The neighbors had chased the burglar and was holding him down until police arrived.

Once they did, officers found Marcus Walker, 9-5-69, At large, had entered the residence and taken copper piping/tubing. Walker was charged with Possession of Burglary Tools, Burglary 3, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

There were also warrants for Walker from Linn County for FTA Burglary 3rd and Possession of Burglary Tools and FTA Driving While Barred and in Johnson County for Burglary 3rd, FTA Show cause Hearing Non-support, and FTA Show cause OWI 1st.

Officers listening to their radio recall a similar incident from last week. Upon further investigation, officers found that Walker had been located last week while turning in possibly stolen copper tubing however at that time, the owner did not want to file charges. The name that was given to officers last week was different than what was given Monday.

Additional charges of Interference with Official Acts, Driving While Barred and Failure to Prove Security/Liability were added to the charges stemming from contact with Officers on June 9, 2009. Walker was taken to Linn County Jail.
