City Publishes Neighborhood Reinvestment Action Plans

Posted:

CEDAR RAPIDS (NEWS RELEASE) - June 15, 2009 - Today, the City of Cedar Rapids published the community's Neighborhood Reinvestment Action Plans on www.CorridorRecovery.org. The online action plans will provide residents with an opportunity to track the implementation of neighborhood recovery and reinvestment projects.

The Action Plans are categorized by the North, Central, and South Areas of the Neighborhood Planning Process and organized in a user-friendly database to make it easy to track progress on any of the 159 projects.

From January to May 2009, the community participated in eight Neighborhood Planning Process meetings to create these plans for the reinvestment of the 10 flood-affected neighborhoods along the Cedar River.

Throughout these meetings, participants developed over 600 ideas and recommendations for flood recovery and reinvestment.  To provide a comprehensive view of flood recovery efforts, the City combined the public recommendations with the City's current projects.

Each action item includes the estimated timeline, status description and stakeholder information.  The online action plans will be updated on a quarterly basis and the City will hold bi-annual meetings to update the public on flood recovery progress.
