Trial set in sword killing

FORT MADISON (AP) -- Attorneys in Fort Madison have confirmed the trial for a 39-year-old man accused of killing another man with a cast-iron sword in a fight over a pool game.

There was no mention of a plea agreement during a pretrial conference Friday in the case involving Christopher Cleve Seigfried, who is charged with the Jan. 25 first-degree murder of 52-year-old Clarence Eugene Overhulser.

Trial has been set for June 29.

In March, while he was being held in the Lee County jail on $1 million bail, Seigfried was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief on allegations he removed the door knob and backer from the door of his jail cell.
