Three taken to hospital after rural Oelwein crash

OELWEIN (KWWL) - Three people were taken to the hospital after a crash at the entrance to the Corner Market on Hwy 150 and Hwy 3 just north of Oelwein Thursday.

The three vehicle crash happened around 3:30 pm. Fayette County Sheriff's deputies say a 2006 Chevy Impala driven by Linda Marie Gilson of Lamont was stopped and making a left hand turn when a 2000 Chevy S-10 pick up driven by Brian Edwards Thompson of Randalia ran into the back of Gilson's vehicle. Gilson's vehicle was then pushed into oncoming traffic and struck in the front end by a 2008 Cadillac SRX driven by Byron L Tweeten of Naples Florida.

Gilson was taken to Oelwein Mercy and treated for her injuries. Tweeten and one passenger were taken to Oelwein Hospital and treated for minor injuries. Thompson, who was not injured, was cited for following to closely and released.

All three vehicles were considered a total loss.
