Driver survives nose dive crash

BURLINGTON, Iowa (AP) -- Burlington police say the Illinois driver of a car that slid off a road and dropped 100 feet to the road below survived the crash with minor injuries.

Tomas Donaciano, of Pana, Ill., was injured early Saturday when his 2003 Ford Mustang landed on its top.

Police say Donaciano was driving on a street on a bluff when he hit a parked truck.

Sgt. Bill Venvertloh says Donaciano's car then went through metal barricades at the end of a dead end street and off the bluff. The car dropped 100 feet through some trees to the road below where it slid into a guard rail.

Authorities say Donaciano's left hand was pinned and crews had to lift the car to free him and take him to the hospital.

Venvertloh says charges are pending.
