About seventy percent of preemies born between 22 and 26 weeks gestation are alive on their first birthday, according to a new study by Swedish researchers.
They found 10 percent of babies born at 22 weeks survived one year, as did 70 percent of those born at 24 weeks and 85 percent of those born at 26 weeks.
Experts say new treatments before premature delivery, and those after birth are likely behind the increase in survival.
