A new study finds improving a --mother's-- eating habits could help prevent obesity in her children.

Because nearly 40 percent of American children are overweight or obese, researchers at Nationwide Children's Hospital wanted to see what was the best way to lower these numbers.

They divided a group of 300 mothers and their less-than-one-year-old babies into several nutrition programs.

They found the maternal-focused group -- that worked to improve a mother's eating habits, led to their children drinking less juice, watching less TV and eating more fruits.
