Moms and substance abuse

A new study shows that while generally women are holding off on drinking and smoking when they get pregnant, many pick up their old habits right after birth.

The study of 68,000 women found that just more than 20-percent of women reported smoking cigarettes after delivering their babies.

The study does not make clear whether they resumed smoking, or started for the first time.

About a third said they drank alcohol at some point before their babies were three months old.
