Veterans Appreciation Days at Grout Museum

Five Iowa Veterans Appreciation Days are coming to the Grout Museum in Waterloo this summer and fall. These special events will pay tribute to local Veterans and Veterans organizations the third Wednesday of every month, through September, 2009.

The Grout's Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum, at 503 South Street, will play host to a social gathering of coffee, cookies and juice at 9:00 AM, followed by a short program at noon, honoring different Veterans groups. Grout Board Chairman, Roger Olesen, will present local commanders certificates of appreciation.

The first local organization to be honored was Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. That special recognition took place at the Grout Museum on May 20. The next Veterans Appreciation Day is scheduled for June 17 and will honor the Sullivan VFW.

The other dates and organizations include Waterloo AMBVETS Post 19 on July 15;

Becker Chapman American Legion Post 138, August 19 and Evansdale AMVETS September 16.

Your $ 5.00 admission to these Iowa Veterans Appreciation Day events also includes a guided tour of the new Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum at half price. Museum members and children 3 and under get in free.
