State leaders discuss 2009 session

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- State leaders were in Cedar Rapids Thursday to highlight achievements of the 2009 legislative session.  In the past year the legislature has approved over 360 million dollars to help communities recover from last spring's flood.

46 million dollars were set aside for Linn County, including 10 million dollars to rebuild the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library.  That's where they addressed the public from.

"I think a big part of what the legislature wanted to focus on this year what could we do to help communities that were affected by disasters, and what could we do to help prohibit these from occurring in the future," House speaker Pat Murphy said.

According to recent data, 2008 storm recovery efforts now total over 2.2 billion dollars.
