FORT DODGE (AP)--A man accused of punching a Fort Dodge man who later died has pleaded not guilty to a second-degree murder charge.

Authorities say Edward Ailey-Roberson, of Des Moines, got into a fight with Kenneth Thornton on March 29. The fight happened outside a home during a birthday party.

Authorities say Thornton was punched in the face and fell to the ground, hitting his head. He died at a hospital.

Ailey-Roberson pleaded not guilty earlier this month. His trial is set for July 7 in Webster County District Court.

Ailey-Roberson remains in jail on $1 million bond.
