Charges filed in Le Mars standoff

LE MARS (AP) -- A man has been charged in connection with a three-hour standoff at a Le Mars home earlier this month.

Officials with the Plymouth County sheriff's office say 36-year-old James Worrell of Le Mars has been charged with interference with officials acts.

Deputies went to the house on May 18 to serve a court order to a resident there but were met with resistance.

They say Worrell, who was officially charged earlier this week, barricaded himself and a woman inside the home. The woman was released about two hours later.

Officials say deputies eventually forced their way into the house and arrested Worrell.

No one was injured.
