Hesco barriers demonstrated

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Tuesday the city of Cedar Rapids demonstrated its latest flood-fighting tool.  City crews set up their brand new Hesco boxes.

The metal baskets are filled with sand as a temporary way to control flooding.

The city bought enough Hesco boxes to build a 2.5 mile wall to be used in case of a flood between 22 and 24 feet.

The city also will utilize Tiger dams as a temporary flood control measure. Those were acquired back in April.
