Summer air travel expected to decline

Posted:

(KWWL,NBC)-- Industry experts are predicting a sharp decline in the number of people flying this summer.

The Air Transport Association said Friday it expects a 7% decline in the number of airline passengers this summer compared to last summer.

That's partly because the weak economy is forcing people to cut their spending when it comes to travel.

Many airlines have already begun reducing seat capacity, cutting routes or using smaller planes.
