Vigil for Postville immigrants

POSTVILLE (KWWL) - Supporters of Postville immigrants are preparing for the one year anniversary of the Agriprocessors raid.

Monday night a crowd marched from Blessed Sacrament Church in Waterloo to the Cattle Congress, the place where detainees were housed after the raid. There they lit candles and read the names of each of the nearly 400 immigrants arrested in the raid.

"In our faith we feel for these people we do the mission of Christ in serving the poor the needy, the immigrant, the stranger, that we will always speak for them and with them," Pastor Jose Comparan, Queen of Peace said.

There will another march Tuesday in Postville. It begins at 3:30 at St. Bridgets. After the vigil at 5 p.m. participants will walk to Agriprocessors.
