Cedar Rapids officer released from hospital

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - After spending 46 days in the hospital, a Cedar Rapids police officer attacked while on the job is finally back at home with his family.

Tim Davis has been at St. Luke's in Cedar Rapids since March 29, beaten while trying to make an arrest after he was called to a robbery.
He sustained head injuries, went through brain surgery and was unresponsive for about three weeks.

Davis went home Thursday.
His family says he's doing fine.

Wife Stephanie Davis said, "It's good to be home, there's a lot of work ahead of us. It's going to be a new normal."

We're told Tim Davis plans to return to the police force.

The teen accused of beating officer Davis was in court this week.
17-year old Jose Rockiett was one of three people taken into custody after that robbery-call in March.

Trial is scheduled for July 27 in Linn County District Court.
