Curtis Fry sentencing expected Thursday

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- Sentencing is scheduled Thursday for 22-year old Curtis Fry, the man found guilty last month of beating an elderly Iowa City man to death.  A judge convicted Fry of voluntary manslaughter in early April.

Prosecutors say Fry broke into the apartment of 75-year old Jerome "Patrick" McEwen and beat him to death.  It happened February 7, 2008.  That's the same day Curtis Fry turned 21 years old.

Sentencing is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Johnson County Courthouse.  The guilty verdict carries with it a minimum sentence of five years in prison.
