Women working construction

Waterloo (KWWL) - Women in the Cedar Valley picked up a hammer for a good cause.

Wednesday was National Women Build Work Day for Habitat for Humanity. It challenges women to eliminate poverty housing while learning construction skills.

The women worked on one of eight habitat homes currently under construction. The all girl crew insulated and hung drywall.

"15 plus people working on this site today hanging drywall. First we insulated then we hung drywall," said Linda Morgan, Heartland Habitat for Humanity.

"I have two daughters, one's eleven and one's nine and their excited. I'm very excited and they'll be having their own room," said Tasha Anderson, homeowner.

Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity is one of 175 habitat affiliates in the U.S. taking part in the 2nd National Women Build Week.
