Former Panther Going to the CFL

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League announced the signing of former University of Northern Iowa wide receiver Justin Surrency to a free agent deal.

As per team policy, details of the agreement were not disclosed.

Surrency (5-11, 183, Northern Iowa '06, DOB: Jan. 9, 1984 in St. Paul, MN) has NFL experience with a pair of teams after going undrafted in the 2006 NFL Draft. Surrency led UNI in receiving in 2005 with 47 receptions for 663 yards and seven touchdowns. Throughout his UNI career, Surrency tallied 107 receptions, 1,493 yards and 15 touchdowns.

After an impressive college career at Northern Iowa, Surrency spent time with Seattle Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings.

"Justin is another player with good experience as a receiver and return man. We look forward to seeing him compete in camp," said Winnipeg head coach Mike Kelly.
