Maifest - KWWL - Eastern Iowa Breaking News, Weather, Closings

AMANA COLONIES (KWWL) -- To celebrate the beginning of May, one town ate, sang, and crafted like their German ancestors.

The Mai Maple Pole dancers danced around the Mai Pole in German dresses.

This was just one of the forms of art at the festival.  Others included flint knapping, rug making and scrolling.

¤Creative Colony Member Ray Heng demonstrated scrolling.

"I don't know how much i'm selling.  I don't care.  I'm having fun...  I'm having a ball.  People are coming up. They're watching me cut.  They're asking questions." Heng said.

Spectators were also able to taste test the Amana food, beer, and wine.
