Jackson Era Begins At Iowa State

Iowa State athletic director Jamie Pollard wanted a wrestling coach with exceptional teaching skills, international experience, charisma and the ability to rally the Cyclones' tight-knit wrestling community.

He believes he's found all those qualities in Kevin Jackson, even though he's never been a head coach at the collegiate level.

Iowa State on Friday introduced Jackson as Cael Sanderson's replacement Friday. Sanderson left to coach at Penn State.

Jackson is a former national freestyle coach for USA Wrestling. He was a captain on Iowa State's last national title team in 1987 and won Olympic gold in Barcelona in 1992.

Pollard says Jackson's base contract is for four years at $125,000 annually plus incentives.
