Chrysler dealer not worried about bankruptcy

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- Since Chrysler declared bankruptcy, it's promising a top-to-bottom restructuring.  The company says it plans to emerge in 30 days a leaner, cleaner car company because of its alliance with Fiat.  In return, the federal government will offer another $8 billion  in aid and back the company's warranties.

Chrysler's bankruptcy declaration doesn't have one local dealer worried.  Friday we spoke with Tom Holdiman of Holdiman Motors in Cedar Falls.

He says the bankruptcy's a new opportunity for many Chrysler dealers like himself.

"The initial reaction was it's over -- the dark cloud that's been hanging over the corporation," said Tom Holdiman.  "It's over we have a new beginning a great thing for our customers for our dealership and for all the dealers."

They have about 100 Chryslers on the lot, and he says no one should be hesitant to purchase a Chrysler product, because it is a quality product.
