KWWL boosts DTV signal

WATERLOO - KWWL, Iowa's News Channel, upgraded the power of its broadcast signal from five kilowatts to thirty kilowatts Friday afternoon.

On February 17, KWWL switched from analog to digital broadcasts. At that time, the station's transmitter broadcast at only five kilowatts. KWWL filed for and requested an increase to its power. This request was granted by the FCC, and a new transmitter was ordered, and installed.

"When we made the switch to DTV, we did run into some reception issues with viewers," said Kim Leer, Station Manager at KWWL. "While most of those issues were solved as we spoke one on one with viewers, some areas remained underserved."

"While this doesn't change our channel frequency," said Chief Engineer Jarrett Liddicoat. "We do encourage anyone who couldn't tune us in before, to perform a channel rescan to find us once again."
