Dubuque Heart Walk Saturday

The 17th annual American heart Association Dubuque County Heart Walk is coming up this Saturday, May 2. Like last year, the Dubuque County Heart Walk will start along Kerper Blvd. near Lock and Dam 11. Hundreds of walkers will enjoy a scenic view of the Mississippi River, as they walk the paved trail on the levee.

Funds raised through the Dubuque County Heart Walk will be used to support lifesaving research and local educational programs. The American Heart Association will supporting more than $ 7-million in research this year alone at the University of Iowa.  

Key National sponsors again this year are Subway, Healthy Choice and Astra Zeneca.

Major local sponsors in Dubuque include Mercy Medical Center and Medical Associates.

This year's Eastern Iowa Start Sponsor is the University of Iowa Heart and Vascular Center. Another key sponsor of the annual Dubuque Heart Walk is American Trust and Savings Bank in the Tri-State region of Dubuque.

Janet Young is this year's Dubuque Heart Walk chair. Janet is with the Dubuque Telegraph Herald, along with Eliza Cole of HyVee and Steve Davis of Medical Associates.

Ben Kuhls will be this year's featured survivor and Ben will be on hand, along with his parents, Eric and Lisa, to share his personal heart survival story. Ben and his family will also cut the ribbon to start this year's Dubuque Heart Walk around 9:00 Saturday morning.
