Arraignments scheduled in kidnapping case

CENTERVILLE (AP)--Court records show that two people accused of kidnapping and torturing a Centerville man are scheduled to appear in court on Monday, while three others have entered not guilty pleas.

Authorities say Justin Downs reported he had been held hostage and suffered ongoing beatings for a week in February.

An investigation began after Downs met with admissions counselors at Indian Hills Community College in February. School employees apparently noticed he had several injuries and called police.

Charged with first-degree kidnapping are: Emile Herve Morin III, George Vasalofsky, Tamara Carter and Mae Keel all of Centerville, and Kevin Sindt of Unionville, Mo.

Court records show that Morin, Vasalofsky and Sindt have entered written not guilty pleas. Carter and Keel are scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.
