Education Secretary visits Iowa, discusses stimulus funding

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan will speak at UNI on Friday, outlining how schools can spend economic stimulus money.

Iowa will get about $411 million for education over the next two years under the stimulus plan. The money can be used for expenses like summer school and extra pay for teachers. Nationwide, schools will receive about $100 billion from the stimulus plan.

Duncan will be joined by Gov. Chet Culver, Sen. Tom Harkin, Sen. Charles Grassley, Rep. Bruce Braley.
