WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Heart attacks and strokes are less likely to strike women who breastfeed.
In a new study from the University of Pittsburgh, researchers looked at data on nearly 140,000 post-menopausal women. Those who breastfed their babies for at least one month had lower rates of diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Women who breastfed for more than a year had a 10% lower chance of ever suffering a heart attack or developing heart disease than women who'd never breastfed.
